Melodic

"South London's The Melodic serve as a snapshot of the world as a whole... [blending] various musical stylings into something fresh and sleek, but with a nostalgic nod to their predecessors." - Paste Magazine
British group The Melodic released their debut album, On My Way, on the heels of an extended US residency this spring and summer where they quickly won new friends with their fresh sound. The young band from Brixton, South London offer a vibrant new brand of afro-folk-pop that, while inspired by '60s folk, incorporates an assortment of influences from around the world. Its members utilize instruments such as the Charango, Melodica and Kora to create a music that joyously defies categorization and exhibits a clear reverence for past masters from Paul Simon to Bert Jansch, while mixing in sounds from Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa to create a music entirely their own. Along the way they have garnered comparisons to such US indie darlings as Beirut and the Decemberists. During their first US foray, they have wowed fans at California’s High Sierra festival, played pool parties and pubs throughout California, and won over unsuspecting new fans at street festivals.
