Matthew Azrieli is a singer/songwriter studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Originally from Montreal, he was first inspired by Elliott Smith and Nick Drake, and taught himself the guitar by writing his own songs. Critics notice his voice, described as “a buttery, low register that cradles the songs as it paints his original words” by the Canadian Jewish News. When he first started gigging, Outremont’s Talk of the Townie wrote that his lyrics “defy imagination”. Though initially successful on YouTube, Azrieli, now 18, is promoting his first release, an album which IX Daily says “displays his serious talent for songwriting”. Azrieli continues to be recognized for his unique brand of classically inspired indie-folk.
