Ken De Poto

On Bad Man, the debut album from one of New Jersey’s best songwriters, Ken De Poto takes stock of the past few years of his life in a deeply personal statement, playing all the instruments on the album himself. “Lady” opens the album, blasting off in to the stratosphere with dual guitars that sound like Brothers-era Black Keys on steroids. “The Devil Made Me Do It” takes cues from the Ramones and never have the wrong choices sounded so right. The ethereal “Why Can’t I Wake Up” updates the New Orleans swing of Dr. John for a new millennium including a cascade of horns that would make Jeff Mangum smile. “Start Again” recalls Harvest-era Neil Young at his most lovelorn.
Bad Man finds hope by walking deep in to the darkness and coming through the other side intact. Without the bad, how could you appreciate the good or this album for that matter? We hope you enjoy it!
