I, the Mountain is an alternative-folk trio hailing from culture-rich Peterborough, Ontario. Originally appearing in public under the name “Matthew Peter Lamers & the Feel Goods”, founding members Matt Lamers and Matthew Rappolt began playing music together while in residence at Trent University’s Lady Eaton College. 

After playing a number of successful shows at the campus pub, the pair were scouted and asked to headline the university’s end of year celebration, the Dionysus Festival, an event which annually attracts more than 500 students, alumni and community members to the campus. 

It was during the the following summer that Matt and Matthew, now playing as I, the Mountain, were able to break into the local music scene, securing weekly slots at a number of Peterborough pubs and music halls while they worked on crafting songs for their debut album. 

Returning to school in the fall, the band recruited acclaimed local bassist Matthew Morgan and immediately entered the Sound Distillery Studio in Kitchener/Waterloo to record with producers Dave Houde and William Muir. The result was Land & Sea, a six song concept album that marries raw acoustic melodies with catchy, upbeat rhythms and gentle harmonies. The first single, “Love Inside a Cage”, was what caught the ear of New Jersey's Mint 400 Records who has proudly released this epic EP on September 10th, 2013.
