Hush Now
Wishing You A Happy Christmas (Single)
Self-Released
ADDS 12/8/09

Bing Crosby? Nat King Cole? Not quite the influences you’d expect for an indie-pop quintet out of Boston, MA. But these were the ghosts of Christmas past that The Hush Now leaned on when they entered the studio in October to record “Wishing You A Happy Christmas.” The Hush Now have created an amalgamation combining the classic sensibility of the aforementioned Christmas crooners, the swing of Jobim Bossa Nova, and the wall of guitars of Brit pop all the while maintaining what is quickly becoming the signature sound of an up and coming band. It’s a rare thing these days to hear a contemporary Holiday song that not only evokes the imagery of the holidays, but can easily fit on a playlist next to the classics. With a strong showing at CMJ 2009 in NYC and anticipating the release of their second single, Contrails, The Hush Now are now preparing for an upcoming tour of the UK in late February to support the release of their second studio effort, Constellations. Calling on a certain winter melancholy that breathes beneath the surface level cheer of this holiday season, The Hush Now create a sense of longing for those days when “everything was new and true,” before releasing into a chorus of Fa La La’s. One listen and you’ll find yourself singing along.
