Gordon Gano

Gordon Gano, co-founder of and songwriter for alt-rock monoliths The Violent Femmes, returns to the scene with Under the Sun. Film-scoring brothers and Bogmen members Brendan and Billy Ryan collaborate with Gano on his first non-Femmes release as a front man. His most cohesive collaboration yet, Under the Sun marks the beginning of a promising partnership with the Ryans and the return of a musical heavyweight. Gano’s signature emotionalism is present in full force on high energy rockers like the lead single ‘Man in the Sand’ and the tense, anthemic ‘Wave and Water’. Tracks like ‘Hired Gun” and “Red” showcase Gano’s seasoned storytelling ability and lyrical creativity with the subtle touch of wry humor that is buried within the tracks of Under the Sun.
