"Without even hearing Generationals, it's easy to to get a grip on the band's broad, commercial appeal....Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer court their catchy tunes in uncomplicated ways, creating minor, genre-spanning songs that oddly locate the same sort of similar kind of grinning, crowd-pleasing affability. The dusty guitar boogie of "Ten-Twenty-Ten", which could pass for an early Phoenix track, is a great guidepost, showcasing the band's proclivity for lively rhythmics and frill-less, friendly hooks. The variances strewn across Actor-Caster are subtle but welcome, highlighting, if nothing else, that this is a band that can do more than just tastefully ape the sounds of the 60s. From the Graceland-indebted bop of "I Promise" to the jerky, life-affirming thump of highlight "You Say It Too", Genrationals trade in a number of types of hooks. Even when they step outside their contort zone a little, like on the twinkling, MGMT-esque love song "Yours Forever", they do so with poise and clarity...." - Pitchfork

"Actor-Caster is a collection of pop confections of the highest sugary order: honey-dripped melodies, choruses that crave to be sung out open windows, and foot-tapping rhythms all colored with a timeless and genre-spanning palette of tones and influences. From their 2009 debut Con Law to 2010's Trust EP and now Actor-Caster, New Orleans' Generationals have maintained an astonishingly consistent and high level of creativity. 26 songs into their young careers and the songwriting core of Grant Widmer and Ted Joyner have yet to make one false move. Instead, the duo have demonstrated a near insatiable appetite for explosive and dynamic pop music...." - Everybody Taste

"...Maybe because I'm a sucker for a good dance track, or maybe because the lyrics shoot straight for the heart, "I Promise" really does it for me. It's such a feel-good song, with the most contagious hook and a great pounding energy to boot. What more could you possibly want? Oh I know, it's a little on the short side. Extended KCRW remix, anyone?" - Valida, KCRW Music Host
