"Fairmont is indie rock we should all be thankful for" - Amp Magazine

“Negativity never sounded so good.” - Innocent Words | John B. Moore

"Now an accomplished vocalist as well as songwriter, Sabatino confidently guides the most accomplished and accessible incarnation of Fairmont to date, featuring gossamer-light, indie-pop with harmony-laden vocals, rollicking melodies and full-bodied arrangements." - Jim Testa | The Star Ledger

"Fairmont makes the kind of quasi-twee indie pop that I wish was being made in more basements across America. Wonderful instrumentation that runs the gamut from math-rock to electro-pop." - WOUB-AM - Athens, Ohio

"imaginative turns, emotive lifts, and a folksy rock basting relatable to Modest Mouse." - Susan Frances | AbsolutePunk.net

"Fairmont will always be light-years ahead of the average indie band" - Independent Clauses | Stephen Carradini

Fairmont, the New Jersey project started by Neil Sabatino (owner of Mint 400 Records, ex-member of Pencey Prep) in August 2001, offers up this treasure trove of out of print materials from the early 2000’s. The band has survived almost 2 decades and much of that is owed to the fact that between their debut album and 2nd album “Anomie” they tried every genre under the sun and had a slew of members contribute to the EP’s and demos contained in this release to truly find themselves. Throughout the 26 tracks you can hear the band venture from folk to punk. Some tracks speak to a time and era long gone in the NJ scene and others are home and studio recordings that later would end up on future Fairmont albums. It’s easy to hear the band run the gamut of musical influences as they were working towards their most commercially successful albums, 2008’s “Transcendence” & 2009’s “The Meadow At Dusk”. The band today sounds almost nothing like they did back then but somehow within the rawness of these tracks you can hear the roots of their future endeavors. Kind of like venturing through the 18 hours of Radiohead’s OK Computer Leak, it has got its moments of greatness (I use that word loosely) sprinkled in there.
