New Brunswick, NJ indie-pop favorites, Dollys, have returned with a brand new album entitled Low Year. The new album consists of ten singles the band spent 2015 releasing. The combined collection recalls the Smith’s Hatful of Hollow in its consistent quality, showcasing just how strong the band has become since slimming down to a three-piece.

Drummer Natalie Newbold’s vocals guide these songs in all of their sun-drenched grandeur, combining Beach Boys-esque vocal harmonies with psychedelic surf rock guitar licks. Tracks like “Imitator” and “How Charming” pull back the curtains on the indie rock scene that has been bubbling under the surface of New Jersey for many years, showcasing an alternate universe to the roided-out sun-tanned club-goers so often portrayed on TV. This is music that truly reflects some of the best aspects of indie pop culture, where art is made by friendly weirdos, and the music is sunny and warm, while still being a little bit grungy and dangerous, much like the New Brunswick basements that birthed them. We hope you enjoy it!
