Exclusive: DeVotchKa Announces Live with the Colorado Symphony - Paste 
The very first official live album from DeVotchKa, “DeVotchKa Live with the Colorado Symphony” features the band performing with a full 60-piece orchestra. Recorded live on February 18th, 2012 in the band’s hometown of Denver, Colorado, the album contains 14 of DeVotchKa’s most memorable tracks enhanced by the full symphony. Each song is both at once familiar and novel, with the lush arrangements and beautiful swells enhancing the band’s already epic sound. The album was released on November 13, 2012.
Rather than hire someone to transcribe DeVotchKa’s songs into orchestral charts, band member and multi- instrumentalist Tom Hagerman wrote the charts for almost all of the tracks by himself. Nick Urata, who recently wrote the soundtrack score to the feature films Ruby Sparks & Crazy, Stupid, Love, oversaw the mixing and mastering to make sure it sounds as if you are personally in the room for the performance. DeVotchKa will be performing with other orchestras around the country in late 2012 and 2013, with full dates announced in the next few months.
