Blue Vervain’s debut release Wounds tells a story about the scars that close and reopen during and after a relationship has dragged on too long or come to its close. Written by Jon Khan (ex member of Morningside Lane), Khan channels inner experiences into a record that could heal any broken soul. Hence, the name “Blue Vervain” or (Verbena Hastata), a flower that is used as an alternate remedy for anxiety and depression. One of the main influences behind the band’s name is that the songs would act as an alternate remedy to those struggling with their own mental health. Blue Vervain recorded Wounds at Strange Weather Studios in Brooklyn, NY, and had it mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound in Nashville, TN.
“This is a record for everyone and anyone who may need guidance on their path to recovery from being broken, or for anyone seeking a nostalgic look back to recognize the reason they were broken from an objective point of view” Khan states. Wounds is a reappearing theme throughout the record, Khan’s vocals highlight an emotional and unique voice which longs to be absorbed. From the opening track “Cycle” which tells the story of an all too familiar relationship with an excessive amount of baggage to the title track and album closer Wounds which stands as Khan’s last piece of advice for the listener. 
The Aquarian Weekly wrote “The songs “Cycle,” “Kelsey,” “All On My Own,” and the title track [“Wounds”] really pull you in and make you want to put a set of headphones on to enjoy.” Cool Dad Music premiered Blue Vervain’s first single “Cycle” and said “Cycle" starts off with some subdued guitar and vocals from Khan, before building to a cathartic outro. The song brings together elements of emo, alt rock, and indie which makes for an appropriately moody result.”
