Adam and the Plants return in 2017 with their new EP, Born with the Gift of Magic, following 2015’s full-length debut The End of the World. The band serves as the musical outlet for Adam Copeland, who has logged nearly a decade in NJ’s vibrant underground rock scene. Born with the Gift of Magic finds the band building on the ideas and sounds of their debut. “Side Man” updates the dry wit and daft cynicism of the Kinks. “Madeline” sounds like a song the National would write in the midst of a daydream while “The Marquis” embraces the demented gospel of Abattoir Blues-era Nick Cave. “Mystery Song” could be a classic by the Band if they had valued reverie over earthiness and should be your slow dance song of the year.

Copeland’s unique voice and knowing personality are what make this music all his own. Born with the Gift of Magic is an uplifting way to start what promises to be a dreary and ass-backwards 2017. We hope you enjoy it!
