Maxi’s World

Western Massachusetts' always-ripe DIY indie rock community received a jolt of pure pop energy with the emergence of Maxi's World a few years back. Their debut EP, comprised of 5 songs in just under ten minutes, gives the rest of us a chance to enjoy their no-frills 90's-inflected sound. 

Unlike most of the modern rockers that garner comparisons to That Dog. or Juliana Hatfield/Blake Babies, Maxi's World actually sounds similar to those bands. The lyrics, about being in love, being queer, and being queer and in love, are concise and direct. The playing is solid, yet just a bit rough around the edges. 

Fans of Western Mass-to-L.A. transplants Potty Mouth, or solo pop-punkers Lisa Prank or Colleen Green, will find a lot to like here.
