Quiet Canyons - Chairs

Trash Casual

Chairs, by Quiet Canyons makes album #10 of Tim Williams’ career and proves that he is just starting to hit his stride. “I’ve always admired artists like Damien JuradoWill OldhamLaura Veirs and Richard Buckner who continuley put out amazing music, deepening their impressive catalogs. Though I’ve been lucky enough to have had great shows and good reviews, it has always been about the music and connecting with myself and others.”  Tom Beaujour was once again at the helm, Tim was able to allow himself to give more lyrically than he ever has thanks to having a trusted friend to bounce ideas off of. The song “Chairs” which kicks off the album deals with mortality and the thought that your brain can sometimes push the gas to the floorboards propelling your life to a conclusion – even if it’s long before your time to go. “It Will Get Better” is a song about one of Tim’s very young daughters struggling with mental illness that he feels he passed along to her. Not everything is doom and gloom though, on “Time” he reflects on living in the moment and taking life for what it is, propelled by Chris Berry’s powerful drums and Tom Beaujour’s steady bass line. All in all, this album is the culmination of many years of recording, touring and releasing albums. It may sound simple in terms of instrumentation, but with repeated listens, this collection of songs goes as deep as it gets.
