Brothers Charlie, Tommy, and Mikey Maddocks of the Denver based alt-rock band Holdfast. have quickly taken the U.S. and U.K. by storm with their energetic, captivating live show and introspective songwriting. Beginning touring in 2022, this band of brothers took on the U.S. with their own headline tour in the summer and joined Red Rum Club for both their U.S. National tour and U.K. tour. On May 15th, 2023 Holdfast. opened for Dermot Kennedy at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre with an unforgettable show and then hit the road for the summer on their own headline tour. “Break Outta The Mold” is our new track from the Break Outta The Mold EP releasing sept 15. I was inspired to write this song after seeing alarming headlines about conflicts going on between Israel and Palestine, around May 2021. The whole message of BOTM is centered around people in need on the other half of the world – how it’s so easy for Americans to become numb to all the things happening outside of our immediate surroundings. It’s written from the perspective of someone in need, asking anyone listening for help – “pick up the phone, I will hold because I know I’m not alone.” At the very least, BOTM is a reminder for ourselves to live a life that’s more selfless, and to think of others first.
